To simulate left ventricular contraction an external, squeezing pressure, Pext(t), having a half sinusoidal waveform is applied to the pump compliance, Cp, namely Pext(t) = Pmax ⋅ max(0, sin(ωt)), where Pmax is the peak applied pressure.
