C refers to the compliance of either compartment of the test lung, P is the compartmental pressure, R is the resistance inserted into either branch of the test lung, or that imposed by the external breathing circuit (Rcct), and Q is the flow in either branch, or the total flow into and out of the test lung (QTOT).
