Table 2 Classification of horizontal position of catheter tip

From: Computational fluid dynamics study of intra-arterial chemotherapy for oral cancer

Class

Position of catheter tip

C

Center of the ECA

F

Forward shift of catheter tip toward the target artery from center of the ECA

B

Backward shift of catheter tip toward the target artery from center of the ECA

L

Left shift of catheter tip toward the target artery from center of the ECA

R

Right shift of catheter tip toward the target artery from center of the ECA

  1. Target arteries are the lingual, facial, and occipital arteries. Catheter tip rotates centering on a point 10 mm away from the tip, and the amount of shift from the centerline of the catheter is a quarter of the diameter of the external carotid artery (ECA). Classification of horizontal position of catheter tip is determined in distal view of the ECA
