  1. Quantification of the electric field strength (E) for in-homogeneous models with needle electrode configurations which are defined in Fig. 2a-c. Conductivity of the target tissue is σtt = 0.4 S/m and the conductivity of the surrounding tissue σst = 0.2 S/m. Calculated minimal E (Ett min ) and maximal E (Ett max ) inside the target tissue and maximal E within the entire tissue E max for different needle electrode configurations. Furthermore, by scaling the results we also calculated the parameters Ett min , Ett max and E max for U/d = 1300 V/cm.
