  1. Each chain consisted of 10 cells, and the number of chains placed in parallel was varied from 3 to 20.
  2. The number of gj-channels, longitudinally and transversely, is indicated by the column headings: 0/0, 100/0, and 100/100.
  3. TPT is the total propagation time, measured as the elapsed time between when the first AP and last AP crossed the zero potential level.
  4. Overall velocity (both longitudinal and transverse components) was calculated from the measured TPT and the distance traveled. Each myocardial cell was assumed to be 150 μm in length and 16 μm in diameter.
