Temperature distribution along the symmetry axis for the transient controlled simulations. Two controlled transient solutions were compared, one only fat model (case 9) and one tumour model with tumour size 52 mm × 4.7 mm (case 10). Tmax was kept at 100°C during the whole 15 min treatment using temperature dependent conductivity in both cases. These simulations resulted in significantly smaller lesion compared to their steady-state counterpart. However, the difference in thermal lesion between the tumour and the non-tumour case increased.
